Happy late Wednesday!

  • What games are you playing this week?
  • Would you recommend those games to other Border House readers?
  • What games have you ranting?
  • Are any of those games listed ones that you want to see covered on the site?

This week has been ridiculously hectic for me so the only thing I played was a little bit of World of Warcraft. What have you been playing?

    MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

(So yeah, I’ve been playing South Park: The Stick of Truth and laughing my ass off.)

Ha! Funny you should pick a Terrible Turnip picture. In WoW, I recently decided to replace all my uncommon, common, and poor quality captured battle pets with rares. Me and my own Turnip have been grinding our way through one zone at a time, seeking the elusive blue quality whatsises to check off on my list.

Outside WoW, I just finished Broken Age, act one, and DAMMIT do I need people to talk to about it. DAT ENDING. Where is the fandom I can analyze and theorize with until act two comes out and we finally find out what’s going on?! I NEED WILD SPECULATION BUDDIES, DAMMIT.

Sorry for dropping off the face of the planet. After much searching, I was able to acquire a PS4. Now, I need to find the Camera and wait for inFAMOUS: Second Son to launch. I have been playing a number of free games via PS+. My friends and I love Outlast. I am looking forward to Daylight, Enemy Within, Alien: Isolation, SOMA, and Routine coming to PS4. I am a huge fan of horror games.

On Vita, I finished the DLC for Stealth Inc. The portals piece was difficult. There were times I had to restart a level because the mechanic would not reset favorably. Not terrible considering the levels were bite-size. I have been playing Injustice and Smart As… I love John Cleese. Also, I think it is fun to have Catwoman knock Superman through a building. I know it is implausible, but it is a guilty pleasure. I did enjoy that CW’s Arrow was a skin for Green Arrow including Stephen Anell’s voice.

What are your thoughts on the newly announced Batman: Arkham Knight game? I wish you could play as Catwoman again. Something about strutting through Gotham looking for a fight just speaks to me.

Also, have you seen the famous drag queen, Coco Peru, play GTA V on YouTube? It is pretty funny.

Almost forgot, on PS3, I am slowly chipping away at Heavenly Sword. I am currently slaughtering Bohan’s Army. I enjoy slicing and dicing my way through the crowd.

Mostly the same games as last week for me.

Icewind Dale (PC). Chapter four, at some encounter with a rather powerful lich.

Baldur’s Gate (PC). Traveling along the Sword Coast. We found a katana for my brother, which he’d been wanting!

Tearaway (Vita). About halfway done. So cute!

Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (PSP). Traveling back home with a special guest~ I don’t trust him, though >.<

The Last of Us (PS3). Over halfway done. Starting to enjoy it a bit more, though the combat is still really meh.

Final Fantasy VI (SNES). Just finished up Esper Mountain, which was followed by a ton of plot thickening!

Jeanne d'Arc (PSP). Reached chapter four. Not a fan of the most recent plot developments :x

Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii). Side questing on the Bionis' Leg still. So many quests T.T

Dark Cloud (PS2). My town is shaping up nicely. I got my first ally, and more importantly, I rescued my pet llama!

Going to be traveling over the weekend, so I'll mostly be playing handheld games over the next week.

I’m still (re)playing Mimana Iyar Chronicle (PSP). I have three of five friendship (romance is too strong a word for this game) endings done, plus the default ending. I’m currently on Patty’s route. After that I’ll see if Feide actually does get an ending different from the default one.

3DS streetpassing is kinda fickle. Sometimes it works, sometimes I wait half an hour and still nothing. Last Monday I didn’t even get any streetpasses while travelling by train (should have received several at both Den Haag CS and Leiden CS). I’m not sure whether to blame cheap Nintendo hardware or cheap Nintendo software.

I’m still working on the final battle with Saren in Mass Effect 1 (argh) and also playing South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Stick of Truth is a very silly and fun game, although it’s definitely not right for everyone. It’s basically a South Park episode but none of the swear words are bleeped, so there’s that.

When it comes to customizing your character, they boast “millions” of options. I was pleased to see an actual full range of skin tones (unlike most games which just give you 14 different shades of beige).

BUT you can’t create a female character. WHY. It would have taken so little. Like, change 4 lines of dialogue to gender-neutral or add a dialogue tree. And yet.

But… putting that aside, yeah, it’s pretty great!

    • Timmy_Mac614 says:

I thought you could play as a female in Stick of Truth. I could have swore there was an article about how they jumped over gender by calling the player “New Kid” or “Douchebag”. That is disappointing.

      • Austin says:

It makes sense in the context of the world of the game and show- it’s always been about young boys playing together. The girls of the town are their own faction.

You can dress AS a girl, though.

I spent most of the last week super sick, but I am still grinding forward in Bravely Default. I just finished Grapp Keep and am acquiring money for the last few items in Hartschild. :)

  8. salvodaze says:

I finished Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons with my girlfriend. After being disappointed by the fact that the game has no co-op option, we tried playing co-op by sharing the same controller and it was a lot of fun. *Spoiler ahead* The game was OK, reminded me of The Unfinished Swan and Journey at times, but wasn’t as sophisticated as either, neither in terms of visuals or story. The story was actually quite simple and as my literature-savy girlfriend explained to me, full of mythological/biblical references. I found the drama somewhat forced at times too. I had read that it got a bad rep for all the female characters being evil or helpless, and unfortunately (and quite unnecessarily) it lived up to that. I’d give it a 3/5 overall. Time for us to pick up Dead Nation. I’m so glad the PS4 has been getting quite a few couch co-op games. Makes most games much more enjoyable.

I also got back to NBA2k14 and my career, after getting cold feet for losing my save. I honestly can’t see how a game that is so sorgeous and functioning on court can be so ugly and broken off court. Still, the court action is so engaging that I can’t say I regret buying it.

I’m still waiting for my copy of uncencored SP: The Stick of Truth which should arrive in a week. Planning to do a live let’s play, where I invite over and force my friends to watch as I play. Should be fun (for me).
