Madjula in Dark Souls 2

Happy mid-week!

  • What games are you playing this week?
  • Would you recommend those games to other Border House readers?
  • What games have you ranting?
  • Are any of those games listed ones that you want to see covered on the site?

I started Dark Souls 2 yesterday and ended up playing for several hours both yesterday and today. I just got to Heide’s Tower Of Flame and I love the game so far.

What have you been playing?

Guild Wars 2 still T.T Three level 80s now, and almost a fourth. Still haven’t really picked one to focus on considerably more than the others :’c

And for anime, Golden Time and Gundam 00.

Still haven’t quite felt like playing anything else lately for some reason :’c My goal for the next week is to play at least a bit of one of the many games I’m halfway done with!

I finally finished Mass Effect 3 (SOB). To my surprise, I’m still playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. I only started playing it to earn EMS points for my single-player campaign, but it turns out it’s really fun on its own.

I also started playing Borderlands 2 with a friend. Pretty entertaining, but I’m glad my friend is an experienced player, because I’m constantly getting lost and confused.

About to start playing Bioshock for the first time. But I’m holding off until I finish a crafts project for Bioware (http://blog.bioware.com/2014/05/02/our-lonely-wall-needs-your-help/). Hopefully will be starting Bioshock this weekend.

We’re about to finish chapter 5 of Bravely Default and are still grinding and mastering jobs. I’m going to get back into Style Savvy soon though and hoping for that update.

    For anime, we’re still watching Aikatsu!, but I’m also considering picking up Selector Infected WIXOSS and Nanana. The latter I am side-eying, since hubby and I dropped it together before the first ep could finish, but it’s pretty and there’s a darker skinned character, so I want to try and give it a shot. >u<;

I’m still playing Sorcery Saga (Vita). I beat the main game (credits scroll) earlier this week. Now I’m back to leveling up weapons/shields again before I tackle the bonus dungeon (256 floors.. o_o). Despite appearing very hard at first, this game is pretty doable once you get the hang of things. The characters are cute, and the story is a good advertisement for curry :P

For video games, just GW2 the past two weeks. Mostly dungeons, but have been running with a friend to complete maps on her alts (more for the company than anything else). The head of my guild’s WvW team has been away on work training, so I haven’t really done much of that.

I had my biweekly Pathfinder RPG game this past Sunday. Solving mysteries is fun, but court/noble politics is not.

Nothing else game-wise as I’m trying to pare down my “to-be-read” pile before the new Dresden Files book comes out.

Guild Wars 2 also has me in its grips. I have not yet hit the level cap (80) but the /age chat command says that I have already spent a somewhat embarrassing amount of time with it over the past two months or so and I have no real plans of stopping yet. In particular, I really enjoy the “megaserver” system that they rolled out last month which allows for much greater variety in the people that you meet. (To my understanding, the megaserver essentially groups as many people from the same real-life region as possible onto the same map.) The Secret World is another MMO that I liked most for its exploration, but I think GW2 feels more enjoyable to explore with others to share it with. Seeing other people while I play and helping and being helped by them is comforting – it lets you know that you are not the sole ghost in the machine.

Play on and off, a lot lately. Only play GWII. Be great to play with other folks w whom I share more than gaming. Part of a long term lesbian couple (24years) and partner very tolerant of GW addiction.

I’m nearing endgame of Bravely Default; I went for the bad ending first and I’m almost there, and then it’ll be a short cruise to the good ending, if my sketchy research is accurate.

I fell back into FF14 pretty hardcore; all my crafting and gathering classes bar one are over level 20, and I sort of desultorily ended up doing more plot because I needed crafting ingredients that happened to be in the same place as the plot….

Also, FF6 on iOS. The new controls are taking some getting used to (and the Blitz keys I’ve had memorized for 20 years are different AUGH WOE), but I’m still in love, because I will never not be in love with FF6.

For the past several weeks, I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2, mainly in WvW for the Spring Tournament.

However, this past weekend, I started playing Dragon Age II. A bunch of people on Twitter decided to start playing Dragon Age II and make it a community event, so we all started on Saturday and have been tweeting about it using #DA2Hivemind. People have also been posting about it on this DW community: http://uncrushablepigeon.dreamwidth.org/

I might pop back into Guild Wars 2 WvW this week, but DAII has sucked me in. I think I also don’t have enough time before the Spring Tournament ends to get all the achievements associated with it.

Baby’s belated first pokemon journey continues: made it to my first big(?) town in Pokemon Pearl… how long before more pokemon jump out of the long grass than Starlies and Bidoofs? They’re starting to bore me. Also, any tips for levelling?

I bought another couple of Voltage Inc. otome game (interactive romance novel) routes for my phone, Prince Edward and Prince Roberto from Be My Princess. I was toying with the idea of buying the boss from In Your Arms Tonight, or the ship’s medic from Pirates in Love, as my next foray into mobile dating simdom, but Be My Princess’s dudes were on sale, so eh, what the hell. Edward seems nice enough, and I think he’s the “canon” route, that is, the semi-official ‘main’ story, and I kinda wanted to see where that plotline went, though Ed as a character is kinda generically pretty oatmeal. Roberto seems like fun, flirty without pinging my overly-familiar-creep alarms, and I look forward to him for dessert once I’ve finished my oatmeal. The sameiness in appearance of Voltage Inc. dudes is starting to get to me though; I know it’s a symptom of anime stylization to some extent, but dammit, a good character designer can wring diversity and personality out of the narrowest limitations! Ah, well, though their art is a bit boring, their stories so far have seemed to be a bit better written and translated than most of the other otome games on the app store.
