Meet TBH Authors at Geek Girl Con

If you live in Seattle and/or are planning on attending Geek Girl Con this upcoming weekend, be sure to attend the Border House panel You Play Like a Girl: Video Games, Feminism, and The Border House on Sunday, Oct 9 from 4 to 5 PM in the Lopez room.  TBH authors Deirdra, Brinstar, Quinnae, and myself will be panelists.  Here’s the details:

The Border House bloggers address the trials and tribulations of starting a feminist blog for gamers. Topics include developing a unique and compelling angle, identifying and engaging your readership, exploring the ways video game culture can be more inclusive of women, and what’s wrong (and what’s right) with games and gameplay today.

I’ve never been to a fan convention before, so I especially thrilled to be participating in GGC.

About Lake Desire

Lake Desire, real name Ariel Wetzel, has been blogging about feminism and videogames since 2005 at her blog New Game Plus. She also writes at Feminist SF - The Blog! Lake Desire is an English graduate student at University of Washington, where she studies science fiction, feminism, and cyberculture. At her workplace, she participates in rank and file labor organizing and the anti-budget cuts struggle. She believes in direct democracy, queer liberation, and opposes white supremacy, patriarchy, and imperialism. She is white, queer, feminist, anarchist, and of course a cyborg. She may not sound like your typical gamer, but has been gaming since she was a toddler and never managed to quit.
